Farmer Smith Estate is a boutique winery in the picturesque winegrowing region of Heathcote, Victoria with two accommodation retreats, a working farm, livestock and views like no other.
Set on 100 acres of rolling hills located near the historic township of Redesdale, North of Melbourne, it is an escape to the country where you can walk out the door and immerse yourself in the peace and quiet of country life. Vineyard, Accommodation & Lifestyle sums up this extraordinary property.
The vineyard (formerly known as Rupert’s Ridge) is the heart of the estate and is the result of more than a decade-long dream of former owners, Chris Gillies and John Williams. They transformed the landscape into an extraordinary vineyard and the property has since grown to become a beautiful example of vines, olives, almonds, figs and many fruit trees, all blending into the park style gardens of the estate. With little to no knowledge of viticulture or winemaking, solid research and hard work resulted in vines that produce superior quality fruit year in year out. Three short years after the establishment of the vineyard and with the guidance and wine-making skills of famed Alan Cooper from Cobaw Ridge, the first Shiraz was released in 2006 receiving 93 points from industry expert James Halliday.
Today (2018), the estate, as its name suggests, is owned by Wayne and Lisa Smith
